Plantagenet National Events

There are countless nationally and globally recognised annual events that people can enjoy in and around the region of Plantagenet in Western Australia. From food and wine festivals to cultural celebrations and sporting events, there's plenty to see and do on a yearly basis.

One of the most highly anticipated events in the area is the annual Plantagenet Agricultural Show. Held each year in early November, this event attracts thousands of visitors who come to watch the livestock judging, check out the various exhibits, enjoy carnival rides, and indulge in delicious local fare. From sheep shearing demonstrations to wood chopping competitions, this fun-filled weekend is a must-visit for anyone interested in farming and agriculture.

Another local event that's become quite popular in recent years is the Mount Barker Autumn Festival. Held in March or April each year, this festival celebrates the arrival of autumn in this picturesque region. Visitors can enjoy live music, market stalls, food and wine tastings, and much more. There's also plenty of family-friendly entertainment, including face painting, puppet shows, and animal petting areas.

For those who enjoy a good glass of wine, the annual Mount Barker Wine Festival is not to be missed. This event, typically held in October, showcases the region's best wines and wineries. Visitors can take part in tastings, take guided tours of the vineyards, and meet the local winemakers.

Of course, for sports fans, there are a number of annual events to get excited about as well. The Plantagenet Trotting Cup, held each January, is always a highlight for horse racing enthusiasts. In addition, the Mount Barker Turf Club holds a series of races throughout the year, with the Mount Barker Cup in March being the main event.

Finally, no annual calendar of events in the Plantagenet region would be complete without mentioning the many cultural celebrations that take place throughout the year. The Denmark Festival of Voice, held in June, is a must-visit for music lovers of all genres. The festival features everything from choral performances to beatboxing battles, and attracts a diverse crowd of locals and visitors alike.

Similarly, the Kojonup District Autumn Festival celebrates the local Indigenous culture through dance, music, and storytelling. Held each March, this unique event is a great opportunity to learn more about the area's rich history and traditions.

Whether you're a fan of food, wine, music, sports, or culture, there's plenty to explore in and around the region of Plantagenet. From long-running traditions to newer events that are gaining popularity, there's always something exciting happening in this picturesque corner of Western Australia.
